Club History
It was in about 1979 that a group of dedicated Rottweiler owners formed a club to "promote the training of Rottweilers" due to the increasing number of them appearing in the London area. LASER first started as a training section of the British Rottweiler Association .
From 1980 LASER organised many events for their Members, as well as Shows, Obedience and Working Trials training. LASER has always been commited to the dual-purpose Rottweiler. In 1986 the Commitee applied to the Kennel Club for Club status in its own right, and this was fully supported by the B.R.A. Registration came through in April 1987.
Things went smoothly until 1989 when the Rottweiler hit the press. Cursed by the media relentlessly, Rottweilers suffered badly, and became outcasts. By 1991 registration had fallen dramatically and classes were badly hit. The Club soon recovered, however, and LASER's first Championship Show was held in 1993.
Training classes stayed in London until they moved to Essex in 1997 from where they operate today. The Club holds two shows a year - an Open Show in May, and its prestigious Championship Show in Novemeber. The committee are always happy to give help and advice, to steer new owners in the right direction.
